Greek Islands

After World War II, many of the islands were returned to Greek independence, where there is something like 15,000 kilometres of coastline to view, including numerous islands such as Rhodes, Crete, and Kos (in total around 4,000 islands).
You get two great benefits when staying on one of the islands of Greece. The first is the scenic mountains, forests and coastlines that will mesmerize you. The second is the quiet stillness found in many of the remote locations that is very inviting if you want a peaceful vacation. The terrain of Greece ranges from mountains in the north to flat plains in the south and beautiful islands off the coast

Ferry boats are used to travel between the Greek islands, but plan these in advance as you could get stranded on an island by mistake. Mobile phone work well in Greece, where virtually everywhere, even islands and mountains, is covered by superb GSM cell phone service.

Tourism

In the July and August months, the room rates are high as these are the peak tourism months. Before you visit, take a look at the Greek National Tourism website for useful information at www.gnto.gr. Tourism is one of the corner stones of the economy of Greece, where it has grown 50 times in the past 40 years and is expected to surge even further in the years to come.

Beach

The beaches are clean and the water is clear and safe for swimming in. With over 13,676 km of white sandy beach coastlines, and crystal clear, sparkling waters, every beach lover is sure to enjoy a trip to Greece.
